Larvae of Lighting Bugs are elongate, slender, sub-parallel sided (tapering a little in front and behind) - body is divided in twelve segments (three thoracic and nine abdominal). They are carnivorous and feed on small insects and insect larvae.
Adults Larvae of Lighting Bugs produce light with specialized organs placed in their lower abdomen
