Very Interesting Specimen with Incredible Details


Subfamily Staphylininae includes the largest rove beetles, with a length varying from 5 to 16 mm. Large Rove Beetles live in dung, rotting organic material and carrion where they prey on maggots and other small insects.
This impressive specimen has a length of about 12mm, the head is nearly as wide as pronotum which is subquadrangular, the eyes are located near posterior margin of the head, the antennae 11 segmented, threadlike are inserted at anterolateral margin of the frons, elytra are short, exposing 6 abdominals segments.
