Lacewings are soft bodied insects; they have four membranous wings with many cross veins that are held rooflike over their body when at rest. The mouthparts are mandibulate and the antennae are long, filiform and many segmented. Lacewings undergo complete metamorphosis.
Both larvae and adults are predaceous.
Hemerobiidae are brownish, soft bodied insects with long filiform antennae and finely netted wings.
They are weak fliers. Both larvae and adults are voracious predators of small insects and mites.
