Rove beetles are more or less elongate with short elytra that leave various abdominal segment exposed. This specimen belonging to the Subfamily Steninae is characterized by the slender, elongate body and the large bulging eyes. Steninae inhabit waterside environments such as reeds or sparsely vegetated sites on river or lake margins or the litter and humus layer in tropical forests. They are predaceous on collembola.
