The head of some species of Fulgorids is produced into a hollow structure resembling a snout which is sometimes as long as the insect’s body.
It was believed by the entomologists of the 18th century that the snout was luminous at night.
For this reason, Fulgorids of the genus Fulgora are referred to as “Lanternflies.”
The unusual long filiform Cerci make this beautiful nymph, perfectly displayed in the centre of the gemstone, a really unique Specimen.
