Coleoptera Dytiscidae – Diving Beetle
Body of Dytiscids is oval, convex, smooth, hardly keratinized. The Antennae are long, filiform; the maxillary palps are very short. Hind legs are long, flattened with a fringe of hairs. Dytiscids are good swimmers and live in diverse aquatic habitats raging from the edges of lakes and streams to small ponds. They also occur in the tanks formed by the leaves of canopy bromeliads.
