Genuine Dominican Amber Fossil
Swarm of Male Webspinner (Embioptera)
Web spinners are gregarious, adult females are wingless and live in large colonies protected against predators by the web-like galleries created with the tarsi on their front legs, which produce multiple strands of silk. Adult winged males are short lived and don’t eat. They leave soon the home colony and fly to find a female in another colony and mate. In some species, the female eats the male after mating.
